In 2020, the first symptoms of the disease appeared, which lasted for several months, but as there was a state of emergency due to the coronavirus, Marija was only diagnosed in November of the same year - a malignant tumor of the large intestine (C.20).

She was operated on at the end of November, when 13 tumors were removed from the colon and pelvis, as well as part of the colon, and Marija has been wearing a stoma since then. In December 2020, liver surgery followed, when a malignant tumor was removed from the liver too.

In January 2021, she was hospitalized due to a collection of abscesses on the liver, when two drains were inserted, which she wore for two months.

Chemotherapy started in March 2021. After 4 treatments, a follow-up scan  in June 2021 detected lung metastases. Given the size and spread of the metastases, surgery was not an option, so the same chemotherapy was continued.

In October, an allergic reaction occurred, suffocation, and the therapy had to be changed. This therapy is not appropriate, but it is the only treatment option in state institutions.

The condition worsened, so in January 2022 the control scanner showed  water in the pelvis, enlargement of the lymph glands, relapse on the liver and worsening of lung tumors. From February, treatment with biological therapies with Irinotecan was started. It gives results in the sense that the situation is not getting worse, but there is no progress either.

In the meantime, there are problems with urinary infections and problems with emptying the bladder, and the opinion of the urologist is that this is probably a consequence of the colon surgery. Since November 2022, Marija has been suffering excruciating pain and gynecological problems. It is necessary to do a biopsy and further diagnostics.

The opinion of doctors from abroad is that a recovery is possible, but first it is necessary to carry out complete diagnostics and analyzes in order to include immunotherapy as soon as possible, and then consider the possibilities of surgical removal of tumors from the lungs and liver.

Funds are needed for further diagnostics and analyses, as well as for immunotherapy.

Marija wants to fight, to watch her children grow up, and for that she needs help in the form of donations from all generous people.
