In 2017, Katarina was diagnosed with a malignant breast tumor that spread to the lymph glands (C50.8 Neoplasma malignum mammae, limites transiens), after which operative treatment was indicated when a quadrantectomy of the left breast was performed and all lymph glands affected by the tumor were removed.

After the surgery, due to a positive family history, a BRCA2 mutation test was performed in 2018, which was positive (class 5, which means that the high-risk effect for the development of breast and ovarian cancer is dominant), after which it was decided to perform a hysterectomy in order to reduce the risk of the tumor returning.

Until 2020, Katarina went for regular check-ups and everything was fine. At the end of 2021, during the follow-up examination, changes in the liver were observed, and the first relapse of the disease occurred in April 2022. Since then, Katarina has been on different types of chemotherapy that did not give good results. The last progression of the disease occurred in June 2023.

Given that in our country all treatment options have been exhausted, the family began to look for a solution in clinics abroad. A clinic abroad that produces personalized immune vaccines for cancer based on genetic sequencing has started production of the vaccine for Katarina. It takes 3 months to produce the vaccine, and since it is necessary for Katarina to receive several therapies, she is appealing to all generous people to help her with their donations in order to raise money for therapies in time.

She needs funds for continuing treatment abroad, chemotherapy, laboratory analyses, diagnostic examinations, consultative examinations, medicines, travel and accommodation costs during the treatment.
