Humanitarian Foundation BUDI HUMAN - Aleksandar Šapić
raises funds for Petra Obrenović (2008).
As a healthy baby, Petra was developing normally. The first laugh and the first steps were something that every parent desires the most. The most beautiful ballerina in the theater, on masquerade, will remain forever imprinted in memory.
As the months passed, around her second birthday, Petra showed disinterest, her gaze was lost, she was in her own world, she did not respond to her name ... She often woke up at night, crying and twisting her body, as if something was bothering her. Nothing could calm her down - not even her favorite baby songs, swinging, or even Mom's and Dad's hugs.
Since she did not respond to her name, her parents thought she was deaf. She was taken to a pediatrician, where she was further referred for otolaryngologist. The analyzes lasted almost a year, but without diagnosis. Months of sleepless nights followed in teasing, hair pulling, tossing on the floor ... The family didn't know how to cope with that and what that actually was.
Petra was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Parents suddenly have to get used to it and somehow get to know their child from the beginning.
After many years of work with Petra and the immeasurable love she receives from her family, she has achieved much. Petra is present nowadays. She goes to a special school, makes contact with peers, says a few words, and most importantly, there is a smile on her face again.
Petra's family, which has tried so far to improve her life, wants to try a stem cell transplantation too. Treatment is performed in three operations over a period of one hundred days. The operation is supposed to help Petra in developing speech, better communication, fine motor skills and further life.
