Aleksandar was born on 5 September 1991. He lives in Niš and he is a graduate student in journalism at the Faculty of Philosophy. He specializes in sports journalism, most notably basketball and football. In the past few years, he has been working and writing for several sports portals.

In mid-April 2018, he began to notice the first symptoms of the disease - mild fever, fatigue and he turned pale. As those were nonspecific symptoms, he did not initially pay too much attention  to them. After a few weeks, he decided to have a blood test, after which he was sent to the Hematology Clinic by a GP. After additional tests and analyzes, he was diagnosed with - acute myeloid leukemia that rapidly and aggressively attacks the body.

It was necessary to react immediately and start the battle, so the first cycle of chemotherapy  began right away. He is currently in the recovery and preparation phase for the second cycle at the Clinical Center Niš. The doctor's estimates are that he will have at least three more cycles.

The highest chance of recovery from this vicious disease is stem cell transplantation. The success rate of this intervention abroad is high, but Aleksandar needs financial help. For that reason, family and friends are launching a fundraising campaign to give Aleksander a chance to heal and return to a normal lifestyle.
