He is the second child born after a properly maintained pregnancy, and graded 9 at birth.

Until the second year, there were no signs of major developmental problems. Since he did not develop his speech even at the age of 2 and a half, he started speech therapy treatments and the progress was very slow. At the age of 3 and a half he had his first epileptic seizure and that's when his problems started.

He lost all progress, stopped controlling physiological needs completely, was very irritable and biting himself and clothes, completely lost eye contact, pointing gestures and did not respond to anything.

In 2021, through genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Phelan-McDermid syndrome (deletion on the 22q13 chromosome). This is a very rare syndrome and is characterised by regressions, epilepsy, speech delay and hypotonia, as well as autism spectrum disorders.

Kosta regularly attends speech and language therapy treatments, but progress is very slow because his attention span is very poor and epileptic seizures slow him down a lot.

What gives hope for Kosta's recovery are stem cell treatments in Turkey, which require considerable funds.

Funds are needed for stem cell treatments, specialist examinations, intensive speech therapy, physical treatments, treatments in a hyperbaric chamber, spa treatment, laboratory analyses and supplements, dolphin therapy, as well as for travelling and accommodation costs.
