Veljko's first complaints start from the third month, when he had problems with eating and sleeping. Motor development was delayed too.

From month to month, new complaints and involuntary movements appeared, and when he was 10 months old, regression of psychomotor development and loss of functions were confirmed, when he was hospitalized for the first time at the rehabilitation department of the children's hospital in Novi Sad.

Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that he had brain atrophy as a result of a rare neurodegenerative disorder caused by a genetic mutation.

He was monitored by neurologists for the diagnoses: Morbus systamatis nervosi degenerativi specificati G31.8 (Other designated degenerative diseases of the nervous system), Disordo evolutionis pervasivus F84.9 (Pervasive developmental disorder), Disordo evolutionis functionis motoricae specificus F82 (Specific disorder of mobility development).

Veljko visited countless clinics even before the diagnosis of brain atrophy. He was hospitalized several times in Novi Sad and Belgrade. He had more than 5 total anesthesias and various invasive and other examination methods.

He was examined by numerous specialists, all available diagnostics and examinations were performed, his genetic material was sent for analysis abroad and it was only confirmed that it is a very rare, unknown disease.

Veljko's brain atrophy, among other things, greatly affected the act of swallowing and feeding in general, it is necessary to install a PEG tube, which will facilitate his intake of food after several months of agony. His current state and appearance has only been maintained with great effort and luck.

After receiving the results of the remaining available genetic research in Europe initiated by his parents, they submitted the requested documents to a clinic abroad where they want to perform the necessary diagnostics and continue treatment.

He needs funds to continue treatment abroad, travelling and accommodation costs during the treatment.
