Irina was born after a maintained pregnancy during which her mother was treated with methyldopa and verapamil. The pregnancy ended in the 39th gestational week, by caesarean section due to position of the foetus. She was born with a very low level of  platelets and shortened arms. The right arm consists only of a hand and a shortened forearm, while the left arm is connected to the chest and has only one of the two bones of the upper arm. An ultrasound examination of the abdomen revealed a horseshoe kidney, and regular follow-up by a nephrologist began. A muscular VSD and ASD secundum were seen on the ultrasound of the heart, so she is also being monitored by a cardiologist.

She was hospitalised on the first day at the University Children's Clinic in the Department of Neonatology due to multiple limb deformities associated with thrombocytopenia, for which she received platelet transfusions on several occasions due to low values. After the transfusions, the platelet count improved, and she was examined by an orthopedist, a plastic surgeon, and a physiatrist, who planned further monitoring and potential resolution of skeletal anomalies.

After the examinations, a strong suspicion of TAR (thrombocytopenia absent radius) syndrome appeared so genetic testing and counselling were started.

Her parents found out a clinic in Poland with experience in treating patients with TAR syndrome, where Irina was scheduled for the first examination and planned surgery. Her parents are asking for help from all generous people so that Irena can continue her treatment as soon as possible.

She also needs funds for specialist examinations, medicines, medical consumables, travelling and accommodation costs during treatment.
