raises funds for Zara Urukalo (2019) 

Zara is the first child born after the second, IVF pregnancy. Her mother had insulin resistance, but the pregnancy went well. She was born in the 32nd week by emergency cesarean section at maternity ward in Novi Sad due to the mother's suspicion that she could not feel the baby's movements. The ultrasound examination detected fluid accumulation in the stomach and hydro air levels of the fetus with an enlarged stomach and detected fetal tachycardia. She was born in perinatal asphyxia and on the first day she was urgently transferred to the Clinic for Children's Surgery  due to signs of acute abdomen (severe abdominal pain) under the image of ileus and with signs of the presence of free air, due to antenatal intestinal volvulus. She was operated on the same day. After eight days, Zara's condition worsened, she was operated on again when the gangrenous part of the intestine was resected and a T-T jejunoileal anastomosis was performed. With the quick reaction of the doctors and their expertise, Zara fought for her life and her fight is still ongoing.

Zara uses prophylactic antibiotic therapy every day, and in addition to short bowel syndrome (K63.8 Morbi intestini alii, specificati), Zara also has poor absorption caused by food intolerance (K90.4 Malabsorptio propter intolerantiam alimenti, non alibi classificata), spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy (G80 .2 Paralysis cerebralis spastica hemiplegica) and mild protein-energy malnutrition (E44.1 Malnutritio proteinoenergetica mitis). She cannot walk independently, she moves with the help of her parents with a slightly impaired walking. She has been included in habilitation treatment since her young age, she is regularly monitored by a gastroenterologist as well as by a physiatrist, neurologist, psychologist. She also has speech therapy and physical therapy and she goes to spa treatment once a year.

Zara is a mentally healthy girl, cheerful and sociable, her desire is to be healthy, to play with children and have a childhood like her peers. Zara's parents are unable to finance her treatment, for that reason they need help, so they are asking all generous people, who are able, to help and participate in Zara's progress and her first independent steps.

Funds are needed for stem cell treatment abroad, PIASTM therapy (pediatric soft tissue mobilization supported by instruments), physical treatments, lokomat device treatments, hydrotherapy, hippotherapy, hyperbaric chamber, defectology and speech therapy treatments, control and specialist examinations, laboratory analyses, spa rehabilitation, travel and accommodation expenses during the treatment.
