Mihajlo is a boy with significant intellectual difficulties and a behavioural disorder. There were no perinatal complications, and after the second year, his parents noticed that he lacked in speech and  that he did not understand commands, did not make gestures or make eye contact. A physical examination revealed mild facial dysmorphia, he and his mother were genetically tested and a pericentric inversion of chromosome 18 was discovered in both of them.

He was diagnosed with pervasive disorder with UMNR (F84- Disordines evolutionis pervasive), which is characterised by qualitative impairments of reciprocal social interactions and forms of communication and scarce, stereotyped, repetitive repertoires of interests and activities, and in 2022 he was also diagnosed with epilepsy.

He has been attending special education and speech therapy treatments for the past 7 years, but still hasn't spoken yet. Mihajlo's cognitive and speech-language development is significantly below what is expected for his age, psychomotor development is slowed down, there are difficulties in terms of behaviour and socio-emotional development.

A continuation of the genetic examination is suggested, which needs to be done as soon as possible in order to determine the further course of treatment.

Funds are needed to continue genetic testing as well as speech therapy treatments.
