Sofija was born after the second, regularly controlled pregnancy that ended in term, but it was complicated by mother’s viral infection before the delivery.

In the second month, hypotonia was noticed due to the inability to control the head, after which she was involved in intensive physical treatments. From the earliest period, a global delay in psychomotor development is evident. She started to sit at 12 months, she does not crawl but stands with support. She lost her pincer grip, as well as two-syllable words whose meaning she understood. Speech is at the level of vocalisation. Defectological treatments are carried out all the time. It is also monitored by a neurologist.

At the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade, a genetic analysis was performed that confirmed the diagnosis of Rett syndrome (F84.2 Syndroma Rett) - a progressive neurodevelopmental disorder that occurs most often in female children.

At the clinic for neurology and psychiatry for children and youth, she was diagnosed with mixed developmental disorders (F83 Disordines evolutionis specifi mixti).

Sofija needs intensive treatments that require significant funds, thus her family appeals to all humane people to help with their donations so that Sofija gets a chance to progress.

Funds are needed for physical therapy, speech therapy treatments, hydro and hippotherapy, medicines, supplements, orthopaedic aids, neurofeedback therapy, therapeutic training, control and specialist examinations, as well as for transportation and accommodation costs during the treatment.
