Sofija was born after the second twin pregnancy while the second foetus was lost in the first weeks of pregnancy. Hormonal therapy was applied and the pregnancy progressed smoothly until the 26th week when placental abruption caused premature caesarean delivery.

On the second day, she had convulsions, and on the third day, there was a massive V degree pulmonary haemorrhage. Based on the clinical and radiological findings, due to the development of hydrocephalus, urgent operative treatment was performed when a VP shunt was implanted.

At the clinic for neurology and psychiatry for children and youth, she was diagnosed with epilepsy (G40.4 Epilepsia generalisata alia et syndromata epileptica), mixed developmental disorders (F83 Disordines evolutionis specifici mixti), as well as spastic paralysis of all limbs (G82.4 Tetraplegia spastica).

Sofija attends physical and speech therapy treatments that give her a boost, but in order to progress, she needs to practise intensively and continuously, which requires large funds that exceed her family's income.

Sofija's family hereby appeals to all humane people to help with their donations so that one day Sofia will be able to lead an independent life like her peers.

Funds are needed for BDA treatments, specialist examinations, rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, physical therapy, somatopedic treatments and for travelling expenses.
