Dorotea is the second child born after the third properly managed and controlled pregnancy that ended in term.

Development proceeded smoothly until 14 months, when vomiting and food refusal occurred. She was diagnosed with increased blood acidity, acidosis (E87.2 Acidosis) and organic acidemia (E70.8 Disordines metabolismi aminoacidorum aromaticorum alii). It is a rare metabolic disorder of amino acids. Genetic analyses revealed a homozygous pathogenic variant in the MMAA gene with the cblA type of methylomaniac aciduria that responds to vitamin B12 therapy.

She was hospitalized at the "Dr. Vukan Čupić" Healthcare Institute for Mothers and Children of Serbia  in the period from 04, November  to 23, April 2023 due to disturbances in her state of consciousness, rapid breathing and vomiting in a serious general condition. Continuous non-invasive monitoring was started upon admission. Due to dehydration and registered severe metabolic acidosis, intravenous rehydration was started with the use of bicarbonate.

Dorotea is involved in intensive physical treatments and is monitored by neurologists, metabolists, physiatrists, psychologists and defectologists. Metabolically, she is stable, but her motoric progress is slower. Despite intensive therapies, she still does not sit, crawl or walk independently.

Funds are needed for BDA treatments, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, orthopedic aids, Tomatis therapy, speech therapy and defectology treatments and specialist examinations.
