Dorotea was diagnosed, at birth, with dystrophic bullous epidermolysis (Q81.2 Epidermolysis bulossa hereditary dystrophica), better known as "butterfly children", which is a severe and rare congenital chronic disease, the pathophysiological basis of which is a mutation of the gene encoding collagen type 7.

Dorotea's skin is very sensitive, the slightest touch causes major damage. Due to frequent changes in the skin of her hands and fingers, Dorotea has no nail plate. Immediately after birth, there was a partial fusion of the toes of the left foot. Due to the wounds on her body, Dorotea is in great pain and significant financial resources are needed for gene therapy - the medicine Vyuvek, for which it is necessary to collect funds as soon as possible. The disease requires special care as well as frequent specialist examinations. Dressing is done every day and lasts several hours, and is necessary to prevent infections and additional complications.

All generous people are asked to help with their donations in order to provide funds for the continuation of treatment and necessary therapy.

Funds are needed for Vyuvek gene therapy, operative treatment, medical devices, hospital expenses, procurement of necessary medical consumables and medical cosmetics, for medicines and supplements, for medical and orthopedic aids, operative treatment, physical therapy, specialist examinations and laboratory analyses, as well as for travel and accommodation expenses during the treatment.
