In December 2024, Ratko was diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the parotid [oral] salivary gland (C07 Neoplasma malignum glandulae parotideae).

Initial treatment started with radical parotidectomy, but due to R1 resection, he was referred to RT. In the further course of treatment, due to confirmed local recurrence and bilateral lymphadenopathy on the neck, the conciliar decision continued the treatment with HT according to the 5FU/CDDP regimen.

After the genetic analysis of the tumor, a strong HER2 (IHC3+) expression was determined, which is a key therapeutic marker and enables the application of targeted HER2 therapy, which currently gives encouraging results.

The further treatment plan includes chemotherapy as well as biological therapy with Trastazumab at a private clinic. Targeted therapy gives Ratko hope for a recovery, but it requires significant financial resources that he is unable to provide on his own, so he is appealing to all people of good will to help with their donations in order to raise the necessary funds as soon as possible.

Funds are needed for biological therapies, chemotherapy, hospital treatment and medicine therapy.
