is raising funds for Matija Mihajlović (2016).

Matija has been diagnosed with a rare and severe neurodegenerative disorder caused by a mutation of the PANK2 gene (G31.8), known as Hallervorden–Spatz syndrome. In addition, he has developmental disorders, moderate intellectual disability, retinal dystrophy, and severe malnutrition.

The disease is progressive and leads to serious motor and neurological impairments. Matija experiences significant difficulties with movement, increased muscle tone, impaired coordination, and speech difficulties. His condition requires constant supervision and assistance with daily activities.

Further treatment includes the application of modern therapeutic methods, such as botulinum toxin therapy, as well as consideration of deep brain stimulation (DBS), which can significantly improve his quality of life. Intensive physical therapy is also necessary, along with continuous special education and speech therapy support.

Given the severity of his condition, the need for long-term and complex treatment, and the high costs of therapies, his family is unable to provide the necessary funds on their own. Therefore, they are appealing to all compassionate people for help through donations.

Funds are needed for physical therapy, specialist examinations, rehabilitation, speech and special education treatments, as well as for potential surgical intervention and the costs of treatment and travel both domestically and abroad.
