Olivera suffers from stage 5 chronic kidney disease (N18.5 Morbus renalis chronicus, gradus 5).

Her kidney disease first manifested at the age of 20, during her first pregnancy, when a spontaneous miscarriage occurred in the second trimester. She has been on a chronic hemodialysis program since March 2017. During the course of her illness, Olivera has undergone two kidney transplants. The first, a pre-dialysis living-related kidney transplant, was performed in November 2003, with her father as the donor. In November 2011, terminal graft insufficiency occurred, and treatment with repeated hemodialysis was initiated. In October 2013, she received a cadaveric kidney transplant, after which she underwent two additional surgeries due to the presence of a hematoma in the left retroperitoneal space. In early February 2026, she was admitted to the Clinic of Nephrology at the Military Medical Academy (VMA) for explantation of the non-functioning transplanted kidney, in preparation for a new cadaveric transplant in Belarus.

Olivera’s life currently depends on a hemodialysis machine, which she undergoes three times a week. Although she bravely went through transplant attempts in Serbia, unfortunately they were not successful. She has therefore sought help at a clinic abroad that has agreed to perform a kidney transplant, which would mean the end of exhausting hemodialysis treatments and a return to a normal life. However, she needs the support of all people of goodwill who are able to help.

Funds are needed to cover the costs of preoperative preparation, kidney transplantation, specialist examinations, laboratory analyses, medications and supplements, as well as travel and accommodation expenses during treatment.
