is raising funds for Jana Radošević (2021)

Jana was born prematurely at 29 weeks of gestation, weighing only 990 grams. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (G80.1 – Paralysis cerebralis spastica diaplegica).

Since birth, Jana has been under the care of a multidisciplinary team of specialists. She regularly attends physical therapy in specialized centers and continues to exercise at home. Thanks to persistent work and continuous therapy, she is now able to walk with the help of a walker, and with orthoses she achieves better foot support. Clinically, spastic diplegia with left-sided lateralization is present, and Jana is classified as GMFCS Level III.

Doctors have recommended continued intensive habilitation therapy, spa treatment with a caregiver, and regular follow‑ups with a neurologist, psychologist, and physiatrist. However, for Jana to achieve more significant and lasting progress, surgical treatment in the United States is necessary to address muscle spasticity. Specialists at the children’s hospital have also recommended an additional orthopedic procedure to correct contractures, which would allow Jana to achieve a more stable, higher‑quality, and independent gait. After surgery, Jana will require a long and intensive rehabilitation process, including daily physical therapy, special education and speech therapy sessions, as well as the use of specialized orthopedic aids.

Due to the high cost of treatment abroad and the lengthy rehabilitation process, the family is appealing to all kind‑hearted people to help raise the funds needed for Jana’s treatment.

Funds are needed for the surgical procedure abroad, postoperative physical therapy, special education and speech therapy treatments, orthopedic aids, spa rehabilitation, as well as travel and accommodation expenses during treatment.
