Since early childhood, Matija has been facing a malignant brain tumor affecting the central nervous system — medulloblastoma (C71.6 – Medulloblastoma, CNS grade 4, large‑cell/anaplastic, SHH‑activated). He has also been diagnosed with leptomeningeal dissemination (C79.5 – Neoplasma malignum secundarium ossis et medullae ossium), as well as secondary deposits in the skeletal system.

The disease manifested in October 2025, when Matija began experiencing vomiting, unsteady gait, and speech difficulties. After CT and MRI scans, a tumor in the posterior cranial fossa was discovered, accompanied by acute hydrocephalus. In October 2025, a VP shunt was implanted, followed by surgical removal of the tumor. The pathology report confirmed malignant medulloblastoma, and atypical cells were found in the cerebrospinal fluid, indicating disease spread.

Matija underwent radiation therapy and chemotherapy. His treatment included craniospinal radiotherapy and additional targeted treatments of the thoracic and lumbar spine. Follow‑up MRI scans showed significant improvement compared to previous findings, but micronodular changes and metastatic lesions in the bones are still present. Bone scintigraphy revealed uneven radiopharmaceutical uptake in the ribs bilaterally, indicating secondary skeletal deposits. Matija is currently in stable general condition, conscious and oriented, but he requires continuous oncological treatment, monitoring, and rehabilitation.

The family is appealing to all kind‑hearted people for donations to help raise the funds needed for Matija’s ongoing treatment.

Funds are needed for laboratory analyses, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hospital treatment, travel expenses, and accommodation during treatment.
