Description
Humanitarian Foundation BUDI HUMAN – Aleksandar Šapić
is raising funds for Petar Dražić (2015)
At birth, Petar was diagnosed with severe hypoxic‑ischemic encephalopathy (Encephalopathia hypoxica ischaemica neonati gradus II–III), neonatal sepsis (P36 Sepsis neonati bacterialis), meconium aspiration with respiratory distress (P24.0 Aspiratio meconii), transient renal insufficiency (P96.0 Insufficientia renalis congenita transitoria), as well as an atrial septal defect – FOA. Later, additional diagnoses were confirmed: spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy (G80.0 Paralysis cerebralis spastica quadriplegica), idiopathic focal epilepsy (G40.1 Epilepsia idiopathica focalis), and mixed specific developmental disorders (F83 Disordines evolutionis specifici mixti).
Immediately after birth, a severe clinical picture developed — bradycardia, weak spontaneous respirations, atonia, areflexia, and generalized convulsions. During treatment at the Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia, numerous diagnostic and therapeutic procedures were performed: antimicrobial therapy, oxygen therapy, continuous brain function monitoring (CFM), EEG monitoring, correction of metabolic disturbances, administration of antiepileptic medication (phenobarbital), physical therapy, and intensive neonatal care. Neurological findings indicated diffuse hypoxic‑ischemic brain injury, pseudocyst formation, ventricular dilation, and pronounced leukomalacia.
In March 2016, Petar was hospitalized at the Clinic for Neurology and Psychiatry for Children and Youth, where treatment with synthetic ACTH and valproates was introduced, resulting in control of epileptic seizures. He continues to undergo regular neurological and electrophysiological follow‑up.
Petar now requires continued specialized treatment — BDA therapy, which has shown positive effects in slowing the progression of scoliosis and lordosis, as well as in preserving his remaining functional abilities.
The family is appealing to all compassionate people for help through donations, so that Petar can continue the treatment and rehabilitation essential for improving his quality of life.
Funds are needed for ongoing BDA therapy, specialist examinations, laboratory analyses, orthopedic and medical aids, and travel expenses during treatment.
For Petar’s recovery! Let’s be humane!
