Konstantin has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (G71.0 Dystrophia musculorum Duchenne), a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and loss of mobility. The disease was discovered accidentally during a physiotherapy examination, when blood tests revealed elevated levels of creatine kinase. Genetic testing in an international laboratory confirmed a mutation in the dystrophin gene.

Konstantin is being treated at the Institute for Mother and Child, where he regularly undergoes physical therapy and check‑ups with a neuropediatrician. With the use of corticosteroid therapy and physical stimulation, his condition is carefully monitored. Despite the efforts of doctors and his parents, the disease is progressive and requires advanced gene therapy.

The only available treatment that can slow the progression of the disease is gene therapy ELEVIDYS, which enables the development of functional micro‑dystrophin and helps prevent muscle degeneration. Treatment is carried out at a clinic abroad, lasts three months, and includes a series of specialized examinations before and after the administration of the therapy. The total cost of treatment is very high, which is why help from compassionate people in the form of donations is urgently needed.

Funds are required for gene therapy, travel expenses, and accommodation during treatment.
