Luka was born from a twin pregnancy, prematurely at 28 weeks of gestation, with a birth weight of 1520 grams. Immediately after birth, he faced numerous complications, including high‑grade intraventricular hemorrhage (P52.3 Haemorrhagia cerebri intraventricularis fetus et neonati), periventricular leukomalacia (P91.2 Leukomalacia cerebri neonati), as well as hydrocephalus (G91.9 Hydrocephalus, status post VP shunt).

As a consequence of the hemorrhage and brain injury, Luka developed West syndrome (G40.5 Syndromata epileptica specifica – sy West), severe epileptic spasms, and significant delays in psychomotor development. The neurological examination shows pronounced hypertonia of the extremities, convergent strabismus, absence of head control, and inability to fixate or follow with gaze.

Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain indicates the condition following high‑grade intraventricular hemorrhage, ventriculomegaly, porencephaly, aqueductal stenosis, hippocampal anomalies, and optic pathway atrophy. Luka has undergone surgery — a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was implanted to regulate intracranial pressure.

The family has found hope for improvement at a clinic abroad, where Luka would undergo stem cell treatment. Despite his severe diagnosis, Luka continues to fight bravely, and since further treatment requires substantial financial resources, the support of humane people through donations is essential.

Funds are needed for stem cell treatments, specialist examinations, laboratory analyses, physical therapy, travel expenses, and accommodation costs during treatment.
