Sara has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor – diffuse glioma of the astrocytoma type with an IDH mutation (Astrocytoma diff. IDH mutant, CNS WHO grade 2–3), affecting the temporal, insular, and frontal lobes of the right cerebral hemisphere. The disease is progressive and recurrent, meaning the tumor returns and continues to spread despite previous surgeries and treatments.

Sara underwent her first surgery in 2018, when the tumor in the right temporal region was removed. She was regularly monitored afterward, but follow‑up imaging showed renewed tumor growth. In January 2024, she underwent another surgery, and pathology confirmed a diffuse glioma with an IDH mutation. In July 2024, due to further progression, Sara underwent a third surgery to remove the recurrent tumor that had spread to multiple regions of the brain. After surgery, she received radiotherapy at the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia, with a total dose of 59.4 Gy in 33 fractions.

Despite all treatments, the disease continues to progress. The most recent findings show a homozygous deletion of the CDKN2A gene, which further worsens the prognosis and requires continued treatment in specialized centers abroad. Sara is currently under continuous medical supervision and receives antiepileptic therapy and medication to alleviate the effects of radiotherapy.

Her treatment is intensive, long‑term, and financially very demanding, which is why help from humane people is urgently needed.

Funds are required for treatment abroad, surgical procedures, laboratory tests, specialist consultations, therapies, travel expenses, and accommodation during treatment.
