Dunja was born with a heart defect, transposition of large blood vessels with VSD. She was out of the hospital a month after birth and the family then found out that she had  a respiratory system infection. As a result, she got a buildup of mucus in the lungs which caused suffocation, coughing, fever, so she spent more time in the hospital than at home.

She cannot expel mucus, she has no appetite and cannot develop as children of her age.

In the town where Dunja lives, hospitals do not have the right apparatus to help her, so instead she receives injections and antibiotics, which give a short-term result and very quickly the problems arise again. Her heart surgery is delayed because she is not strong enough to endure it.

Dunja needs a mechanical insufflator-exsufflator Cough Assist E 70 Respironics to accelerate the expulsion of mucus from the lungs for easier breathing, so that she can develop better in general. She also needs funds for heart surgery.
