Aleksandar Milinković was born in 1988 in Banja Luka. He lives in Slatina, near Banja Luka, he is a computer engineer, married and has a child.

Until 11 August 2019 he had a normal life. And then one dive into the pool changed everything. The CT scan showed  an injury to the cervical spine at the level of C4 C5, the so-called double-sided facet locking. Then the struggle for life began.

After the CT scan, all hopes were dashed. The cervical traction was performed, which managed to  partially correct the vertebrae, but not enough, so the operation was performed on 14 August  2019. Doctors could not give any predictions, nor their opinion on how much the spinal cord was damaged.

The operation was followed by new complications. Soon, his lungs weakened and he did not have strength to breathe, because his breathing muscles were  paralysed too. After the seizure,  breathing support was turned on. Despite the support of oxygen, he could not manage, so he got on a breathing apparatus. When the doctor realized that this was not the solution, they decided to install an opening in his neck (cannula).

In October 2019, rehabilitation followed, and after a month, he managed to move his right arm on his own, and then his left arm moved, and from January 2020, everything stopped. He was sent home in April, with a diagnosis of "Treatment without success", quadriplegia, ASIA A and all-day long care.

Aleksandar sees a new chance in stem cell treatments. In addition, he needs funds for further rehabilitation, medication and travelling costs for treatment and rehabilitation.
