Lazar was born in term, after a regularly controlled, healthy pregnancy. The complication occurred during the birth, where he aspirated amniotic fluid and was out of oxygen. He was born without vital signs, emergency resuscitation was performed immediately, and when his health condition was stable, he was transferred to the intensive care unit in Niš, where his struggle continued for several more days. He was discharged from the neonatology department when he was a month and a half old and further examinations and check ups continued at the Institute for Mother and Child in Belgrade.

Due to the lack of oxygen in the brain, severe optic nerve atrophy occurred, and thus visual impairment, muscle hypotonia, damage to the basal ganglia and hypothalamus. For that reason Lazar still does not have stable head control, does not sit, walk nor speak. His psychomotor development is in delay.

In order to start  walking, Lazar needs regular control and examination by a physiatrist, a neurologist, constant physical therapy in our country and abroad, work with a speech therapist and special educator, medications, surgeries, orthopedic aids,  examinations and interventions at the eye clinic in our country and abroad. He is a great fighter that he has proven with his fight so far, so we must continue together with your help.
