raises funds for Željko Stanojević (1983).

 

Željko suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The symptoms of the disease appeared in elementary school, and manifested with unstable walking, sudden falls, progressive weakening of the muscles of the whole body and loss of basic life functions that would lead to complete paralysis and, unfortunately, death.

 

Serious problems in Željko's life arose when he had a double fracture of the femur and remained in a wheelchair after the operation. Muscle tissue biopsy revealed SMA, which is a rare progressive genetic neuromuscular disease for which there was no cure in our country until June 2018, when there was hope with the medicine Spinraz, which showed exceptional effect in stopping further progression of the disease and improvement of basic life functions with a large number of patients there was a general improvement with the reactivating of new motor functions.

 

In addition to the medicine Spinraz, which he needs in order to improve his condition, Željko also needs long-term rehabilitation, physical therapy, treatment in spas, orthopedic aids and  funds to cover travelling  and accommodation costs.
