raises funds for Nikolina Kostić (2014).

 

Nikolina was born on 17 November 2014 in term. In the ninth month of pregnancy (prenatally), dilated ventricles (ventriculomegaly) were detected. When she was a month old, Nikolina got VP shunt implanted (a device that regulates the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid and thus reduces the pressure in the brain and reduces its damage).

 

Further orderly development was expected, however, as time passed, the psychomotor delay became more and more visible. From the ninth month, Nikolina has been struggling to get into a sitting position, crawling and swallowing at the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology, Sokobanjska in Belgrade.

 

The findings of magnetic resonance imaging brought more shocking news  (brain damage, atrophy of the white subcortical mass, atrophy of the corpus callosum, scar lesions, anomalies of both hippocampus) and two new diagnoses, cerebral palsy and microcephaly. In this case, continuous psychomotor stimulation is most important.

 

Nikolina is 6 years old. She faces all the difficulties bravely and with a captivating smile. Although she is eager to, she still is not able to  walk on her own. She has no sense of balance and she is not able to speak. 

 

In order to give her maximum, and continue to fight and overcome the obstacles that life imposes on her, in order to fight for a better quality of life and a happier childhood,  Nikolina  needs help from all of us.

 

Nikolina needs funds for medical interventions, rehabilitation, diagnostic examinations, physical, speech therapy, special education treatments and to cover travelling and accommodation costs both in the country and abroad.
