Humanitarian Foundation BUDI HUMAN - Aleksandar Šapić
raises funds for Nikola Stojković (2003).
Nikola was developing in his mother's stomach like any other baby. However, in the seventh month there were complications when an emergency cesarean section was performed. His birth weight was 1.15 kg and only a few hours after his birth, doctors fought for Nikola's and his mother’s life too. They both got sepsis.
This brave boy spent two weeks in an incubator, in a completely different hospital, separated from his mother for days. All complications resulted in a fourth degree of brain hemorrhage and hydrocephalus. With four and a half months, shunt was implanted to him on the right side. As the years passed by, the development of the left side was in delay in relation to the right side of his body, for the reason of Nikola's rapid growth. A few months later, he had the first epileptic seizures but luckily they disappeared soon.
After hard work and effort Nikola managed to get up from the wheelchairs in 2014. Now, he can stand independently, but unstably. He attends elementary school, pronounces the most basic words, and what is the most important he is a cheerful boy. His friends are very attentive to him; they feel his needs and help him to make progress from day to day.
So far, he had two muscle extensions, and it is necessary to visit Russian doctors again in order to improve his condition. Spa treatments are also necessary for his recovery.
