raises funds for Jelena Marinković (2006)

Jelena is a girl who delays in psychomotor development. The reason for the delay has not been identified yet. The diagnosis has not been determined.

Her health has been getting worse for the last three years. Doctors claim that the exacerbation is caused by the disease, but they have not determined yet which disease.

Jelena has severe infections. At first Lyme disease was identified in the chronic phase (bacterial infection caused by tick bites). Then, at the request of the parents, a lumbar puncture was performed and Candida was found in the cerebrospinal fluid (central nervous system) increased  Candida antibodies in the blood. Invasive fungal infection requiring urgent adequate treatment, which was not applied.

Her devoted parents did many analysis and  antibodies of another invasive fungal infection - Aspergillus - were also detected. Which, like the Candida antibodies, did not decrease significantly, despite nine months of antifungal therapy.

Focal point of infections has not yet been determined so it is hard to be  treated adequately. Urgent expert and responsible diagnostics are required.

The child has been taking very toxic medicines for the past nine months, and is at high risk of liver damage by antifungal therapy - that is actually ineffective and inadequate for treating CNS invasive Candida infection.

Jelena was also diagnosed  with a skull base tumor at a tertiary-level healthcare institution. In less than a month, the same healthcare institution made another Consular decision that tumore did not exist. But some doctors and radiologists claim - there is a tumor after all. Urgent expert and responsible diagnostics are required to determine whether or not a skull base tumor exists and immediate surgery if there is any.

Jelena needs funds for diagnostics and treatment abroad. The family asks all the good-willed people to help financially as much as they can.
