Sergej experienced a traumatic brain injury on July, 24 2023 as a result of a traffic accident, after which he was hospitalized in a clinical hospital in the intensive care unit in a coma.

Due to the serious condition, a tracheostomy and later a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy was implanted. During the next 10 months, Sergej went through a complex rehabilitation therapy that did not lead to an improvement of his health.

After completing the treatment in the RS ICU, he was referred for further treatment in the palliative care department unconscious in a state of vigil coma (R402 coma vigilae). He is regularly monitored by laboratory, microbiological and radiological examinations. There was a worsening of his health when aspiration pneumonia was verified. A positive therapeutic response was achieved to the prescribed medical therapy and the condition was stabilized.

Sergej has partial epileptic seizures that are manifested by involuntary movements of the orofacial musculature.

Moderate spastic quadriplegia was also detected, increased tone of axial muscles, muscles of arms and legs with an emphasis on the upper extremities.

After being discharged from the hospital, Sergej was treated with stem cells at a clinic abroad on two occasions, after which another trip is required where the treatment will be carried out for three months.

The continuation of the treatment requires significant financial resources, which his family is unable to provide, that is why he needs help from all generous people’s donations.

Funds are needed for stem cell treatments as well as travel expenses during the treatment.
